Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted two pickup vans carrying items believed to be logistical supplies for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed on Friday that the operation followed credible intelligence about the movement of the items from Dapchi through the Magumeri area.
Working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), soldiers stopped the vehicles and arrested the drivers for further interrogation. Items recovered include 31 spare tyres, 23 rims, two bicycles, 12 key starters, three alternators, two bags of flour, one mattress, five bags of charcoal, 34 yam tubers, clothing, garri, a power bank, six mobile phones, and N92,600 in cash.
The vehicles and recovered items are now in military custody while investigations continue to determine the suspects’ links to ISWAP’s logistics network. The army reaffirmed its commitment to disrupting supply routes to terrorist groups and maintaining pressure on criminal elements within the region.
