NNPP Explains Why Abdulmumin Jibrin Was Expelled from the Party

The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Suleiman Hashimu Dungurawa, has opened up on why the party expelled House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa. According to him, Kofa was shown the exit door after allegedly abandoning the party’s ideals in pursuit of political favors within the APC presidency.

Responding to claims that Jibrin was not given a fair hearing, Dungurawa argued that no party would tolerate a member who openly attacks its leadership while preparing to defect. “How can you allow someone to defend himself when he is already on the streets attacking your party and declaring readiness to decamp?” he asked.

Dungurawa recalled that Jibrin had publicly criticized Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate and national leader, and even boasted that he was ready to leave NNPP. “He sought to use our platform to secure a job in Abuja. What are we waiting for? Do we need to sit until he disgraces us before acting? Our decision was even delayed,” the Chairman stressed.

He made the remarks while hosting hundreds of Kwankwasiyya Movement supporters from Kiru, Kofa, and Bebeji, who visited alongside the Special Adviser to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Political Matters, Sunusi Sirajo Madobi. The solidarity visit, Dungurawa said, was proof that NNPP still enjoys the loyalty of its grassroots base despite the controversy.
