Former Jigawa State Governor and PDP stalwart, Sule Lamido, has come hard on President Bola Tinubu, saying no “right-thinking Northerner” would back him for a second term in 2027.
Speaking at the PDP expanded caucus meeting in Dutse, Lamido accused Tinubu and the APC of plunging Nigerians into poverty, insecurity, and untold hardship since coming to power. He described the ruling party’s years in office as nothing but “hardship, deceit, and betrayal.”
According to him, Tinubu’s track record shows clear disdain for the North. He alleged that during Tinubu’s time as Lagos governor, Northerners were “maltreated, attacked, and even killed.” He further claimed that Tinubu only won the 2023 election by buying support since groups like ACF, Ohanaeze, and Afenifere never backed him genuinely.
Lamido said Nigerians were warned not to entrust Tinubu with power, but many ignored the warnings and are now “paying the price.” He added that it would be shocking for any Northerner — whether a minister, governor, or lawmaker — to back Tinubu again after the hardship his government has caused.
However, Lamido expressed hope, saying Nigeria can still be rescued if citizens unite beyond party, religious, and regional divides. He also hinted that with ongoing internal moves, the PDP could bounce back stronger and play a key role in saving the country.
