The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria, and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) have jointly suspended Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro following a reported on-set clash with fellow actor Peggy Ovire.
AGN President Emeka Rollas announced the decision on Instagram on Friday, stressing that the move stems from a commitment to responsibility, compassion, and the protection of all members’ well-being within the Nollywood community.
According to a joint statement dated 27 November 2025, disciplinary committees from the three guilds reviewed the incident and concluded that Arimoro was the primary aggressor. He was found to have assaulted the production manager and the driver, and circulated a misleading live video that misrepresented the events while falsely implicating producer Peggy Ovire, who was not present during the initial altercation.
The guilds have suspended Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice. He has been directed to issue a public apology to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director, and to release a corrective video clarifying the sequence of events. Arimoro must also complete his remaining scenes under supervision and comply with any further instructions from the guilds.
In his Instagram post, Emeka Rollas emphasized the Guild’s commitment to fairness, unity, and the protection of all members. He wrote:
“This decision comes from a place of responsibility, love for our industry, and a genuine desire to heal, restore trust, and strengthen our community. AGN is more than a union; it is a family, and every action we take must protect our members’ dignity.”
Rollas assured that the Guild is listening to its members and is committed to creating an environment where trust is rebuilt, relationships are mended, and all actors feel valued and supported.
