THE Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Council, joins the global community in celebrating World Radio Day on February 13, 2025.

This year’s theme, “Radio and Climate Change: a powerful Tool for Climate Action,” underscores the critical challenges posed by climate change.

Radio he said, remains an essential medium for raising awareness, educating audiences, and promoting collective action.

“In Borno State, radio has been particularly instrumental.

“Throughout years of insurgency and displacement, it has served as a lifeline, providing:

“Critical Information: Disseminating vital news, security updates, and information about humanitarian aid to displaced populations and host communities.
– A Platform for Dialogue and Reconciliation: Facilitating conversations, promoting peacebuilding initiatives, and fostering understanding among diverse groups.

“Education and Awareness: Delivering educational programs, health information, and agricultural advice, contributing to community recovery and development.
Entertainment and Connection: Offering entertainment and cultural programming, providing a sense of normalcy during challenging times.
– A Voice for the Voiceless: Giving vulnerable groups a platform to express their concerns.

“The NUJ Borno Council acknowledges the dedication and resilience of radio journalists and media professionals in Borno State, who have worked tirelessly, often under difficult and dangerous conditions, to keep the public informed
