Obidient Movement Defends Peter Obi, Dismisses Propaganda and Personal Attack Claims

The Obidient Movement has once again come to the defence of its principal, Peter Obi, stressing that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate is not one to engage in personal attacks or encourage such behaviour.

National Coordinator of the Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, said Obi’s political style has always been issue-based, focused on good governance and human development rather than name-calling or patronage politics.

He explained that Obi’s priority has consistently been education, youth empowerment, healthcare, and support for the poor and neglected in society. According to him, claims that Obi gratifies individuals with money are false, as his investments have always gone into uplifting people rather than political inducements.

Tanko also clarified misconceptions around incidents involving activists and defamation cases, stressing that Obi’s decision to withdraw certain matters, like the one involving Dele Farotimi, came through respected interventions and not because he “begged” as some narratives suggested.

He further noted that propaganda against Obi—ranging from the controversial “Yes Daddy” audio to alleged WhatsApp broadcasts—has always lacked credible evidence. Tanko insisted such stories are recycled lies by “failed propagandists desperate for relevance.”

According to him, Nigerians are tired of deceit and corruption, and the continuous dragging of Obi’s name is merely an attempt to gain cheap attention. The Obidient Movement, he added, remains committed to standing on truth, service, and integrity rather than propaganda.
