THE Command Monitoring Unit, Eleweran of the Ogun State Police Command has arrested a notorious land speculator/grabber named Ambali Daudu (77) who from police reports has been terrorising and selling off other people’s landed property.
Mr. Ambali Daudu who claimed to be the Baale of Daudu Village in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun state was formally arraigned before Magistrate Court CM 3 in Ifo by the police prosecution on four counts consolidated charges.
Count 1 reads: forceful entry, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Vol.1 Laws (2006) of the Ogun state of Nigeria.
The suspect whose investigation revealed that he’s not a recognised traditional community leader in Ifo Local government of Ogun State in count 2 is also charged with forcible entering a landed property belonging to one Mr. Oladele Asheye Falodun with leading thugs with dangerous weapons, an offence punishable under section 81 of the Criminal Code Volume 1, laws of Ogun state 2006.
In charge 3, Ambali Daudu and others at large are alleged to have invaded and maliciously damaged Three units of 4 Bedroom Flat at the lintel level valued at (N50,000,000) Fifty Million Naira, property of Mr Oladele Asheye Falodun, an offence contrary to and punishable under section 451 of Criminal Code Vol.1 Laws of Ogun state (2006) of Nigeria. In another count, the suspect is said to have fraudulently collected the sum of N50,000.00 from Mr Oladele Asheye Falodun, ostensibly to ratify (4.1/2) four and a half plots of land, an offence punishable under section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Volume 1, Laws of Ogun state (2006).
The suspect who was arraigned on September 24th, 2024 pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail of 2 million naira, 2 Sureties who must have landed property within the magisterial district and a minimum of two years tax receipt.
The court adjourned further sitting till the 7th of October, 2024. As of the time of going to press, it has not been confirmed if the suspect has met the bail condition
