Winner of the just concluded by-election into the vacant seat of the Edo South Senatorial District of Edo State, into the Red Chamber, Abuja, Dr. Joseph Ikpea, has been congratulated on his declaration as winner of the contest, by the Independent National Electorial Commission (INEC).
The salutation was made by Mr. Goddy Francis Okoyo, a longstanding stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a closed political associate of Dr. Ikpea, from the Ugboha Ward of Esan South East of the state.
Through a press statement circulated to the press, Mr. Okoyo, a Canada-based Chartered Accountant and Behavioural Scientist, also urged Dr. Ikpea to use the position to contribute his very best to the progress of his immediate Esan Central Senatorial District and the Nigeria society.
“There could be nothing joyous and inspiring as when a leader dedicates his public service to the people, and above all, to the glory of God”. Said Okoyo, who is one of the spins of the APC in the diaspora.
He also tasked Dr Ikpea, to be a rallying point and a mascot for the unity and development of his Edo Central primary constituency, observing further that Senator Monday Okpebholo, the former representative in the Senate at Abuja, had always assumed same roles for the few months he served the people, before he moved up to be elected as a governor of the state.
Whilst he canvassed for the total support of the constituents for Ikpea to deliver the democracy gains to them, Okoyo, a philanthropist, who is more known for his GFO acronym, also called on the political opponents to bury the hatchet and follow suite.
It could be said that Mr. Okoyo, who was a foundational member and pillar of support to APC in the district, has been consistent winning his polling unit and oftentimes his ward to the party.
Okoyo, who came all the way from Canada for the by-election, again helped to win his unit, and fourteen from fifteen units of his Ugboha Ward, where Hon Segius Ogun, a strong candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC), and two-time former member of the House of Representatives and governoship aspirant, is from, could manage to win only his polling unit, in the results of the LGA and the entire five LGAs of the district.
