Rights activist Aisha Yesufu has taken a swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, calling for his immediate sack.
Yesufu was reacting to Onanuga’s mocking remarks directed at opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and others after the All Progressives Congress (APC) swept the recent bye-elections.
In a post on X, Onanuga had ridiculed the coalition leaders while taunting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for its poor outing at the polls. He wrote simply: “How is the market now?” — a jab that many saw as gloating.
Firing back, Yesufu condemned the comment as irresponsible for someone holding such a sensitive position. “I, Aisha Yesufu, as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and my Special Adviser Information & Strategy puts out a message like this! He or she will be fired immediately!” she wrote.
She added pointedly, “As Nigeria doesn’t currently have a President, anything goes! Poor Nigeria.”
Her criticism has sparked conversation online, with many Nigerians debating whether Onanuga’s words reflect political banter or a deeper disregard for the dignity of public office.
