THE Ondo State Football Association (FA) says it has setup various committees, including an electoral committee, in the process of electing new executives of the association.
This is contained in a communique made available to newsmen on Friday in Ondo by the drafting committee, headed by Gabriel Aborowa as Chairman, Segun Giwa, Secretary and Samuel Patani as member.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tenure of the current executives of the association would lapse on March 10.
“The electoral committee will be headed by the immediate past General Manager of Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Henry Babatunde as Chairman, with Mr Bisi Ayodele being nominated as Vice Chairman.
“Other members of the committee are; Mr Oluwafemi Adeleye as Secretary, and Barr Ayodeji Adekunle as a member.
“The appeal committee members are: Barr. Sola Daodu as Chairman; Mr Segun Giwa, also the Chairman of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) as Vice Chairman; and Tomide Akintoye as Secretary,” the communique said.
According to it, the proposed timetable for the elections into Local Football Council and State Executive Board is between Feb. 21 to March 7, with the agreement that congress will come up on Feb.18.
“Several issues were deliberated by the board of Ondo State, especially ahead of the upcoming election of the association in the state, and guidelines on how to have a smooth electioneering process.
“The board deliberated on the FA accounts and set up an audit committee to check the accounts as presented by the FA secretariat.
“Apostle Samuel Patani heads the committee, while other members are Dr Babatunde Akinbinu as Secretary and Mr Tokunbo Akinyelure as member. The committee is given two weeks to submit its report,” the communique read.
It noted that all decisions made by the board was subject to approval of the congress coming up on Feb.18, which would involve all the football council chairmen in the state.
