It’s been five days and five appointments by the Extension government of Mr Monday Okpebholo; leaving on its trail hordes of complaints from members of his Party, the APC. The PDP and the general public can only look on with a mix of curiosity and trepidation! If you looked, you couldn’t have missed the unsettling consternation in the faces of APC members, as their Governor continues to make good his only coherent promise during the Campaign, which was that he had no other agenda, but to continue the Oshiomhole hegemony in Edo State. By the latest appointment of his Chief of Staff, they are beginning to understand the full meaning of the Okpebholo – Oshiomhole (00) 3.0 agenda.
Obviously, our naive up starters have assumed that all issues of governance consisted in building of flyover bridges. Their Governor had timed it well. After massaging their bridge – manic ego, by dismantling the Ministry of Roads and Bridges; complaining that Obaseki did not build any bridge, he delivered a well calculated political punch, Gani Audu, on their exposed chin. James Hardley Chase would have called it, “a Sucker Punch!” Now the godfather and son have filled all the principal positions in the Executive arm of government with their men and tribes: we can now sit down and talk! Abi nor bi so?
A conspiratorial Vice President had earlier announced the agenda in measured tone. And evident from the way Eramah surged forward to generate and then savoured the accolades, it was clear the VP was right into his stream of consciousness. Did it not resonate? The President had earlier said: ” I will give Edo back to you” the Vice President said Edo returns to godfather Oshiomhole. Talk about Promise made, Promise kept! What a time to be an Edolite! Nay, a Nigerian citizen!
Come to think of it, who among the grieving brigade can lay claim or entitlement on anything from Monday Okpebholo? Everyone knows that he owes his temporary occupancy of Osadebey Avenue today, to the deviousness of INEC and Anugbum Onuoha, Wike’s Cousin, I won’t dwell too much on that today, because the Tribunal would have quite a bit on its hands to dwell on about that shortly!
All hail the made in INEC Democracy!
