MEMBERS of the Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) have raised alarm over an alleged plan by Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to install the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and member of the 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Committee,Mr. Abikoye Johnson Adekanmi Alani as Asaooni of Ora-Igbomina on Wednesday.
The group also alleged the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Barrister Dosu Babatunde of the brain behind the illegal and purported plan installation to hoodwink Governor Adeleke to give approval of Mr. Adekanmi Alani on Wednesday.
The PDP members under the aegis of Concerned PDP members of Ifedayo Local Government,Oke-Ila,further disclosed that there were rumours peddling around the Council Area that Barrister Dosu Babatunde has collected the sum of Five million naira (N5,000,000), from a strong intending APC Governorship aspirant in the State, to ensure that Mr. Abikoye Johnson Adekanmi Alani was installed as Asaoni of Ora-Igbomina at all cost.
According to the Protest Letter dated 10th of October,2024 signed by its Coordinator,Mr. Ayo Fadeyan and forwarded to Governor Adeleke and concerned members of the State Executive Council,including Barrister Babatunde and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
The Letter reads thus; “As a concerned party members that are preparing for reelection bid of Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke in 2026, we cannot fold our arms without raising a voice to give progressive advice to our Excellency in order to remind him on what happened on the issue of Owa of Igbajo Stool where the APC State Chairman was installed as Owa of Igbajo in just a week to end the tenure of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola before your Excellency do the needful to correct the abnormality.
“Sir, there is rumour spreading around like fire across the Local Government to give weight to the above assertion that the Commissioner incharge of the Chieftaincy has directed the Ifedayo Local Government officials to secretly obtain the signatures of the selected certain people as Warrant Chiefs in favour of Abikoye Johnson Adekanmi Alani in order to lobby your Excellency for final approval during the Exco meeting on Wednesday.
“It was further alleged that Barrister Dosu Babatunde’s candidate for Asaoni Stool,Abikoye Johnson Adekanmi Alani, was expelled and rusticated from the higher institution of learning,Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ago Iwoye in 400 level on the allegation of Examination Malpractices,School Result racketing and cultism with Abikoye’s School Registration with matric Number:06078533,obtained from University undergraduate portal.
“The height of the allegation against the annoited candidate of the Commissioner for Asaoni stool was that Abikoye Johnson was bearing different names in his credential records which makes him not to submitt any single credential document along with his Expression of Interest Form on the directive of the Commissioner in charge of Chieftaincy in the State.
“Your Excellency Sir,the Commissioner Dosu Babatunde’s candidate for Asaoni stool, Abikoye Johnson Adekanmi Alani sworn to an Affidavit of Change of Name before the Osun State High Court of Justice of Osogbo Judicial Division,Osogbo dated 3rd day of December,2018,denounced being called Abikoye Johnson Alani as a result of his expulsion from Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ago-Iwoye,Ogun State.
“But to the suprise of all,his denounced name in 2018 was part of the name used to make payment dated 16th July,2024 to Ifedayo Local Government Zenith Bank Account Number:1016566810, to obtain the Expression of Interest Form to fill the vacant stool of Asaoni of Ora-Igbomina. what an inconsistence of a human being.
“It is in our opinion that if we could not see any of our party member to show interest on the vacant Stool by not obtaining the Expression of Interest Form, a candidate without blemished of credential records should be approved,appointed and installed as Asaooni of Ora- Ogbomina so as to give credibility to the admnistration of Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke,the son of Balogun of Edeland. “
“We appealed to our Excellency to communicate the copy of this letter to the State Security Service (SSS) for proper investigation on the issue in order to know the true position as regard the nomination of the candidate for the stool of Asaooni”,PDP members submitted.
