Otti Clears Air: My Visit to Tinubu Was About Nnamdi Kanu, Not APC Politics

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has clarified that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu was focused solely on discussions regarding Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Otti’s office, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the visit was not about plans to join or undermine the All Progressives Congress (APC), contradicting claims by former state Commissioner Charles Ogbonnaya.

“The governor subsequently had a meeting with the President after visiting the IPOB leader at the Sokoto Correctional Centre on Sunday, November 30, 2025. This is in continuation of earlier discussions with the Federal Government over the past two years,” Ekeoma said.

He added, “The issue of Kanu was the only subject matter that brought Governor Otti to Aso Rock. To the glory of God, the meeting was positive and fruitful, as the President was gracious and generous.”

This clarification comes after Otti recently visited Kanu in the Sokoto Custodial Centre, following the life imprisonment sentence handed down by Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court.
