Outrage as Fulani Man Issues Threats, Demands Political Control in Plateau State

A man identified as Musa Idris Ubandoma has sparked widespread condemnation and fear following a series of inflammatory and threatening posts on Facebook, targeted at the people of Plateau State.

Ubandoma, who identifies as Fulani, has repeatedly shared inciting messages, openly supporting violent attacks and suggesting that lasting peace in Plateau can only be achieved if certain political and religious demands are met. His statements — many of which remain public on his Facebook profile — have raised serious questions about the lack of action by security agencies, despite the clear threat they pose.

In one of his most alarming posts, Ubandoma listed demands that include appointing a Fulani Muslim as Deputy Governor, allocating land for RUGA settlements, and requiring the Plateau State Government to sponsor Islamic pilgrimages. He concluded with a chilling warning: “We are one. We must live in peace, if not RIP.”

In other posts, he claimed Plateau belongs to the Fulani, threatened more violence, and used derogatory slurs against non-Muslims. In one message, he went as far as advocating for the free grazing of cattle on farmlands nationwide, saying Fulani cows must be allowed to eat crops anywhere in Nigeria.

These posts have sent shockwaves across Plateau communities, many of whom have been reeling from recent attacks by armed groups widely believed to be linked to Fulani militias. Citizens are now calling on security agencies and the federal government to investigate Ubandoma’s actions immediately, warning that continued silence could embolden others with similar extremist ideologies.

Human rights activists and civil society groups have described Ubandoma’s rhetoric as a serious threat to national unity, urging authorities to treat his case with the urgency it deserves.

At a time when Nigeria is grappling with ethno-religious tensions, calls for justice, accountability, and protection of vulnerable communities have never been more important.
