Pastor Chris Okafor Finally Honours Police Invitation Amid Ongoing Allegations

The embattled founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Pastor Chris Okafor, on Wednesday presented himself at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for questioning after initially ignoring a police invitation.

It was gathered that Okafor reported at the SCID following warnings from some highly placed individuals who cautioned him against the consequences of disobeying a lawful police summons. The pastor had failed to honour an earlier invitation on Monday.

Sources said his initial refusal was linked to an ongoing investigation involving him and his estranged lover, actress Doris Ogalla, at the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 2 Command in Onikan. Okafor reportedly felt that since he had already initiated a case at the zonal command—where Ogalla was earlier detained—he could disregard invitations from other police units.

The preacher has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct, abuse of authority and other serious allegations. According to a senior police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, Okafor eventually showed up after public reports of his defiance raised concerns.

“He came in, his statement was taken, and he was not detained because there is no formal complainant yet,” the officer said. “We reached out to alleged victims and even offered protection and transport, but none came forward.”

The officer added that since there is an active investigation at Zone 2 involving a complainant and a suspect, the Lagos State Police Command has decided to step back and allow that process to be concluded, while keeping the door open for any victim willing to come forward.

Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that Okafor was at the SCID on Wednesday afternoon but declined to give further details.

Okafor was invited in a letter dated January 3, directing him to appear for questioning on or before 10 a.m. on Monday, an order he initially ignored.

The controversy surrounding the pastor erupted weeks ago after actress Doris Ogalla publicly accused him of reneging on a marriage promise. Since then, more allegations—some backed by audio and video clips—have surfaced from former lovers, church members and even his daughter, sparking widespread public outrage.

Following the growing backlash, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a full probe into the matter. Although Okafor first dismissed the accusations as attacks from enemies, he later admitted to some wrongdoing, publicly apologised to his congregation, and stepped aside as senior pastor.

The pastor, who recently married his new wife, Pearl, on December 16, now awaits the outcome of ongoing police investigations as public attention remains firmly fixed on the case.
