When love meets divine direction, it becomes a story that touches hearts. Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, the popular Nigerian gospel singer and minister, recently shared how God guided him to his wife — a journey that proves love built on faith truly stands the test of time.
In his message, Pastor Bassey revealed that his wife had been on a month-long fast themed “Two Is Better Than One.” During this spiritual period, she strongly felt that Nathaniel was her destined husband but didn’t want to act on emotion. So, she prayed for clear confirmation from God — something “very substantive,” as he put it.
Her prayer was answered in a way only God could orchestrate. On the last day of the fast, during a scripture reading from Isaiah 64, the officiating pastor accidentally said, “And Jesus saw Nathaniel standing under the fig tree.” Shocked, he quickly corrected himself — but astonishingly, he made the same “mistake” again. That double mention was the divine sign she had prayed for.
“That was the confirmation she needed,” Pastor Bassey recalled with gratitude. “That’s how we married — by the voice of God.” He encouraged believers to always trust God’s leading, quoting Psalm 119:105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
Since sharing the story, the testimony has inspired many young Christians to seek divine direction in their love lives — a reminder that when God speaks, even love listens.
