The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed claims that a court order is standing in the way of its planned national convention. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this clarification on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television.
His comments came after protests from FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his loyalists, who had alleged that the process was flawed. But Ologunagba insisted the party is fully guided by its rules, the law, and its established guidelines.
He explained that the relevant party organs have already taken decisions on the convention, and every stakeholder, including those claiming exclusion, was duly notified. According to him, the process was not sidelining anybody.
Rejecting suggestions that Wike’s demands could derail the convention, Ologunagba said such claims were simply untrue and amounted to playing to the gallery. He maintained that the PDP remains focused on holding its convention as scheduled.
