PDP Tells APC to Manage Wike Fallout, Says Party Has No Right to Complain

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no grounds to criticise the actions of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting that the ruling party must face the political consequences of its own decisions in Rivers State.

Reacting on Tuesday in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, spoke on the recent public exchange between Wike and APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, over political developments in Rivers State. Ememobong noted that Wike is no longer a member of the PDP and accused the APC of engaging him for political advantage, only to complain when the relationship became inconvenient.

“The National Secretary of the APC may genuinely not know who is or is not a member of the PDP and may therefore be relying on outdated information suggesting that Wike was a PDP member. Wike was expelled from the PDP, along with his supporters, and that is why we sympathise with the problem the APC has brought upon itself by engaging Wike; someone they now lack the moral or legal standing to disown,” he said.

Ememobong added that the APC enjoyed the political benefits of Wike’s actions and must now manage the fallout. “The law does not allow you to benefit from a wrong you created, nor can you complain of a voluntary injury. You cannot complain about an act you willingly undertook,” he stated.

The PDP spokesman also rejected attempts to involve the party in the dispute, pointing out that Wike’s conduct was previously applauded by the APC when it served their interests. “This is what happens when you keep feeding a monster. One day, you become food in the belly of that monster,” Ememobong added, cautioning the APC to manage the situation it created.

The party maintained that any political fallout from Wike’s actions is a direct consequence of the APC’s choices and not the PDP’s concern.
