Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has revealed that he will be taking a short break from public activities following medical advice. In a post shared on his official X handle, Obi disclosed that he had been feeling unwell during an event in Enugu, prompting his doctor to recommend medication and a brief period of rest.
He explained that the break means he will be unable to keep up with all his scheduled engagements within and outside Nigeria this weekend. Obi, however, tendered an apology to those who might be affected by the change, while pleading for understanding during this time.
Just before receiving the doctor’s advice, Obi had a packed schedule. He attended a tourism event in Enugu before travelling down to Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South, Anambra State. There, he made an initial contribution of ₦10 million to support the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria in acquiring and revitalising the hospital facility.
Obi commended the Diocese’s ambitious vision to transform the hospital into a full-fledged health complex with a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology. He stressed that healthcare remains one of the most meaningful investments that can secure the future of the nation.
From Isulo, Obi proceeded to Owerri, Imo State, where he attended a dinner organised by Barrister Nnaemeka Maduagwu in honour of former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
