Police Arrest Government House Driver Over Stolen Kano Official Vehicle

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a Government House driver, Ya’u Inuwa, for allegedly stealing a white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Kano State Government. The vehicle, which was attached to the Governor’s Advance Team, was reported missing on November 11, 2025, from the Government House premises.

Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, said the suspect, who works as a driver at the Government House, confessed to the crime and admitted he conspired with two other accomplices who are currently on the run.

According to Haruna, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, immediately ordered a statewide operation, sealing all entry and exit points to prevent the vehicle from being moved out of Kano. He also directed detectives to ensure both the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of those behind the theft.

“Following sustained intelligence-led investigations, operatives apprehended Ya’u Inuwa, aged 50, in connection with the incident,” Haruna stated. “The stolen vehicle was traced and recovered at Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, in Kano. It is now in police custody. The suspect has confessed to collaborating with two others who remain at large.”

The Police Command assured that efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining suspects and ensure justice is served.
