The Presidency has dismissed reports that President Bola Tinubu is critically ill and preparing to travel abroad for urgent medical care.
The claim, published by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) on Sunday, alleged that the president had been bedridden for several days, forcing him to miss key state engagements. Citing unnamed Aso Rock sources, the report claimed all of Tinubu’s scheduled activities, including the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, had been cancelled since the start of the week.
However, Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga told Daily Trust that the rumours were baseless.
“There is nothing wrong with the president, he is okay,” Onanuga said. “He can choose to work from home. He can choose to work from anywhere. I tell you, nothing is wrong with the president.”
The statement comes amid public speculation over Tinubu’s absence from public functions in recent days.
