The thrust of my argument from part 1 of this long essay is that to argue for ethnicity in choosing our President for 2027 is not an intelligent position to take. Current Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu’s performance in the Southern part of Nigeria comparative to his Northern counterparts as Presidents puts paid to such argument before it even begins. I believe we have had enough of this threadbare arguments that distract from the real issues of assessing a Government through good *Governance and Democracy.*
For instance, I have searched vainly to find any semblance of IMPACT both of governance and of Democracy in the South by this Southern President of Nigeria since 2023, but I have not been able to find one. And, trust me, I have tried really hard! So please permit me to talk only about the things I did find!
I remember vividly that Niger Delta region before late President Yar a adua was a boiling region of such incendiary activities that had the potential of not only crippling our economy, but also , leading us to great anarchy. President Musa Yar a adua, please forgive him, he wasn’t a Master Strategist and Democrat-like -no- other. He was just a mere lecturer turned politician. But at least, we knew his classmates.
So, not being a strategist like no other, he came up with a very simple solution! He employed dialogue! Poor man, a non- Strategist that he is; resorting to dialogues, negotiation, empathy, sensitivity to grievances, etc, to deal with people holding sub – machines, hand grenades, assault rifles etc! The supra Democrat and Master Strategist must have had a very good laugh at the naivety and simplistic strategies of the Katsina Malam! What does this upstart Yar a adua think he is doing? He must have remarked,. Does he actually believe that this soft skill approach like those will avail anything!? When he was President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Commander of the armed forces? POWER! Yar adua, POWER! Use your POWER!
But Malam Yar adua was deaf to POWER! He stayed with reasoning, with empathy, with Democracy and President Yar adua won one of the greatest battles Nigeria has ever fought without so much as an argument, let alone quarrel or violence! President Yar adua was Fulani! He was from the northern part of Nigeria. But information today is: Niger Delta is at Peace! Niger Delta is still at the Southern part of Nigeria!
But then everyone must have his opportunity. Soon enough, the opportunity came for the Democrat- like- no other and Master Strategist. A proper ‘Turn of the South’ opportunity, because it came from: guess where? From Rivers State! Niger Delta again! What a coincidence!
Ironically, this time, Sim Fubara was not holding an AK 47, nor hand grenade. He was simply holding a green pen. But that is immaterial to POWER!
How dare he not defect to the kingdom of His Imperial Majesty, Democrat-like- no- other, and deliver River State to his perpetually inebriated Lieutenant for the security of 2027 votes!? Fubara must go down! Southern Governor my foot! Sim Fubara must feel the POWER Edo people felt in 2023! He must hear those NOW dreadful words of Democracy- like- other: “I am the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” I will give Rivers to whom I want!
Nigeria people, today we have two outcomes in Niger Delta, South South Nigeria, from two related problems, handled by two different Presidents: one Northern, and the other, Southern! Whereas that late President Yar a adua of blessed memory saved the South from blood of our people running in the Creeks and lands like ‘rivers’; by exchanging guns for diplomacy through dialogues and sensitivity to our plight, the Southern President of APC extraction: Kabiesi of Borgu, Democrat – like- no- other and Master Strategist of our time, has a democratically elected Government of Rivers State replaced with a man whose life training involves the use of hand grenades, AK 47, assault rifles etc.
A man who should be giving technical assistance to our soldiers daily perishing in the hands of terrorists in our forest, is now sitting on the desk of DEMOCRACY in Rivers State Government House, while the man the Rivers people
gave the Desk and mandate to is now in a political IDP camp, because in 2027 it is the: “Turn of the South”! So, South must destroy South for South to rule in 2027! What a slogan!
Now can you see how to be a Southern Democrat and Master Strategist! President!?
