President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to visit Borno State on Saturday to inaugurate key development projects and attend a high-profile wedding in Maiduguri, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
During the visit, Tinubu will commission new aviation facilities at Maiduguri International Airport, including an extension and a VIP wing, aimed at boosting air transport in the Northeast amid improving security. He will also inaugurate newly procured tricycles to improve urban transport and support livelihoods, as well as a primary and secondary school in Maiduguri named in his honour to expand educational access.
Later, the President will attend the Nikkah and wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem. Following his engagements in Maiduguri, Tinubu will travel to Bauchi to condole with the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the renowned Islamic cleric who passed away on November 27.
The visit forms part of Tinubu’s yuletide engagements across selected states, after which he will return to Lagos to spend the end-of-year holidays.
