Pride of the North: Adamawa Rewards Super Falcons Coach Madugu with Home and ₦50m

It was a moment of pride and celebration in Yola as the Adamawa State Government honoured one of its own, Justine Madugu — head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons — with a house and ₦50 million. The recognition followed his historic leadership that saw Nigeria clinch its 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

At a heartwarming ceremony held at the Government House on Friday, August 1, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri handed over the keys to a three-bedroom bungalow along with a ₦50 million cheque, commending Madugu for making both Adamawa and the nation proud.

“It’s a proud moment for us,” Governor Fintiri said. “Madugu’s technical brilliance and leadership brought home a major continental victory. He has shown that Adamawa has the talent and vision to shine on the global stage.”

In an emotional speech, Coach Madugu expressed deep gratitude. “I’m overwhelmed by today’s gesture. When I accepted this job, I knew it was more than just football — it was a chance to show that northerners, too, can lead and win at the highest level,” he said.

Madugu’s story is not just about trophies — it’s about breaking barriers, inspiring a region, and proving that dreams backed with vision can lift a whole state’s pride.
