Promotion Scandal Rocks IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s Ethnicisation Of The Nigeria Police Force

As backlash grows over the controversial and nepotistic promotions within the Nigeria Police Force, the embattled and illegal Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has resorted to a crude media tactic, pretending that a selective public decoration of just two officers, a Northerner and a South-Easterner, will happen today being 5th of August.

According to his press release, the IGP plans to decorate, amongst others, CSP Shaba Aliyu, Police Officer of the Year 2023, promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and SP Sentome Obi, Police Officer of the Year 2024, promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP)

But here’s the catch, these two officers are merely a cover.

A deeper look into the full promotion list reveals a glaring pattern of ethnic favoritism, with a disproportionately large number of Yoruba officers promoted, particularly in the top ranks, without being transparency.

The IGP’s press release lacks transparency and mere camouflage. This sleight of hand is intended to deflect public scrutiny and disguise a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of cronies and ethnic loyalists, a police officer said angrily.

“The truth is that Egbetokun’s special promotion list is lopsided, opaque, and scandalously skewed in favour of Yorubas.

“When Muhammadu Buhari was doing the same, we all condemned it. When Goodluck Jonathan was doing the same, we all condemned it.

“The police force under Egbetokun’s watch has become a breeding ground for corruption, favoritism, and ethnic imbalance.

“If the IGP truly had nothing to hide, he should released the complete list of promotions, like the 29,000 officers elevated after the #PoliceProtest, but he can’t because it will expose his secret upgrades of loyalists like Muyiwa Adejobi and sidekicks like Bukola Yemisi Kuti and Yemisi Ademosu.

“Muyiwa Adejobi can’t even release the list; they knew this was a terrible scam.

“Muyiwa and Egbetokun only resorted to a new tactic earlier yesterday, claiming that these exposed are targeting women in his office, his mistresses.

“Still, he forgot to tell Nigerians that there are hundreds of hard-working police women in the Nigeria Police Force who have remained stuck without promotion, some have spent 20 years, because they won’t play ball”, insider sources toldStandarddailypress.com in Abuja.
