PSC Releases Strict Guidelines for 2025 Police Recruitment, Warns Applicants Against Costly Errors

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued detailed guidelines for the 2025 recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), cautioning applicants that failure to strictly follow the instructions could result in automatic disqualification.

In a statement on the recruitment process, the Commission stressed that all documents uploaded on the application portal must be in JPEG format only. Applicants were also strongly advised to complete their applications using a computer rather than a mobile phone, as doing so reduces the risk of technical errors that could affect submission.

According to the PSC, every applicant is required to upload five mandatory documents, each within clearly defined size limits. These include a passport photograph between 50KB and 100KB, a Local Government Area (LGA) certificate sized 200KB to 500KB, a birth certificate between 300KB and 600KB, and WAEC or NECO results within 300KB to 600KB. Specialist applicants must also upload a professional certificate within the same 300KB to 600KB range.

Prospective candidates are to access the official recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. First-time users are expected to click on “Start Application,” while returning applicants should select “Resume Application” to complete entries previously saved.

The Commission urged applicants to pay close attention to on-screen instructions and ensure all required fields are correctly filled, warning that even minor mistakes could negatively affect their chances.

Importantly, the PSC cautioned applicants not to stop at the preview stage, clarifying that previewing an application does not count as final submission. Only candidates who click the “Submit” button will be recognised as having successfully applied.

After submission, applicants are required to print their submission slip. Those shortlisted for the next stage of the exercise will also be expected to print and complete a Guarantor’s Form ahead of further screening, as the recruitment process progresses.
