Tension Deepens in Ahoada East as Police Hunt for Chief of Staff and CSO
The Rivers State Police Command has officially declared two top officials of Ahoada East Local Government Areawanted for their alleged role in a brutal attack on the council’s appointed administrator, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor.
The wanted officials are:
-
Mr. Hector Ekakita, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ahoada East LGA
-
Mr. Aloni Olodi, Chief of Staff to the Council
According to the police, the two men orchestrated a violent assault on Iheanachor, leading a group of about 30 youthsto storm the council secretariat in a coordinated invasion.
A Shocking Day at the Secretariat
The incident, which occurred on June 20, 2025, left Hon. Iheanachor battered and traumatised, with the attackers allegedly forcing him to sign a resignation letter under duress. In the process, official documents were stolen, his phones taken, and his office ransacked.
According to Police Spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, the nature of the attack suggests a pre-planned political conspiracy.
“These individuals, alongside others, inflicted bodily harm on the administrator, carted away vital documents and personal effects, and forcibly obtained his resignation,” the police said in an official statement.
Administrator Still Recovering
As of the time of this report, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor is still receiving medical treatment due to injuries he sustained. His ordeal has sparked outrage within government circles and among residents of Ahoada East, many of whom fear a deterioration of public order and safety.
Refusal to Cooperate: Police Respond
Despite an official invitation for questioning, both Ekakita and Olodi reportedly refused to honour the police summons. This prompted the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbemiga Adepoju, to issue a formal declaration of the duo as wanted persons.
“Their blatant refusal to report to the State Police Headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, has necessitated this action,” the statement said.
Warning to Accomplices and Public Appeal
In a stern message, the Commissioner of Police warned that anyone found harbouring, assisting, or aiding the suspects will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The command is urging anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the wanted individuals to contact the police immediately through dedicated lines or report directly to the State Headquarters.
A Crisis in Local Governance
This latest incident underscores the deepening political crisis at the grassroots level in Rivers State. Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor was one of 23 administrators appointed by State Sole Administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) to oversee LGAs amidst the transition in local government leadership.
Observers say the clash reflects the bitter power tussles that have become common in Rivers State politics.
Justice Must Prevail
The Rivers State Police Command has assured the public that justice will not be compromised. The safety and dignity of public servants, the force says, will be protected under law.
As investigations continue, the spotlight remains on Ahoada East, where many now wait to see if justice will be served—or if this disturbing chapter will become yet another unresolved political saga.
