SDP: INEC Writes Nigeria Police, Affirms Gabam As Authentic National Chairman Of The Party

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has reaffirmed Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as its duly recognised and elected National Chairman of social democratic party, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognize him as the legitimate leader of the party in accordance with the mandate commission.

In an official letter writing to the Nigeria Police Force, dated July 30th and signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony and seen by the media, INEC affirms the leadership of Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, National Chairman Social Democratic Party.

In accordance of INEC’s statutory role in overseeing party affairs, INEC “as the constitutionally empowered body responsible for the registration, regulation, and oversight of political parties in Nigeria, it has remained steadfast in ensuring that all political parties adhere strictly to constitutional provisions and statutory requirements.”

Also, in another official correspondent, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, “In an official memo dated July 5th and also signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the INEC stated that the letter dated June 25, “ is not in compliance with the requirement of part 2(12)3 of the Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022, and requested Gabam to confirm the authenticity of the letter.

The INEC memo read: “Re: Introduction of the Acting national chairman of Social Democratic Party (SDP); “The Commission is in receipt of a letter dated 25th June on the above, purportedly signed by the Secretary of your Party with a signature inconsistent with the specimen signature in the records of the Commission, introducing an acting National Chairman of your Party.

“The letter is not in compliance with the requirement of part 2(12)3 of the Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022. You are to please confirm the authenticity of the letter.”

Therefore, Nigeria Police Force and the general public should respect the established structure of the party, as Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam (Makaman Tilde) remains the duly elected National Chairman of the SDP, as recognized by INEC and law.”

For authenticity and legality of the party’s administration’s “all official communications, directives, or correspondences of the party must be duly signed by Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam to be considered valid and binding”.

In line with INEC’s statutory role in overseeing party affairs, INEC “as the constitutionally empowered body responsible for the registration, regulation, and oversight of political parties in Nigeria, any stakeholder or member’s of the Social Democratic Party, that thinks otherwise, should Seek redress in Court not creating non recognize and illegal structure against constitutionally provisions.
