Senegal Supports Amadou Hott’s Bid for AfDB Presidency

SENEGAL has officially launched the candidacy of Amadou Hott for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group. The announcement, made by the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, underscores Senegal’s commitment to pan-African progress and development.

A legacy of leadership and vision

Hott brings over 25 years of experience spanning investment banking, development finance, and public policy. He previously served as Senegal’s Minister of Economy, Planning, and Cooperation (2019–2022) and held key positions within the AfDB, including as Vice President for Power, Energy, Climate Change, and Green Growth (2016–2019). He most recently acted as Special Presidential Envoy for the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa (2022–2024).

Under his guidance, and that of current AfDB President Dr Akinwumi Adesina, Hott contributed significantly to groundbreaking development initiatives. Senegal’s government highlights his ability to foster African integration and drive sustainable economic projects, with a focus on creating opportunities for youth and women.
