Shehu Sani Backs Jonathan: “Nigerian Politics Is Full of Betrayal, Young People Must Learn”

Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, has weighed in on ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s recent remarks that Nigerian politics is dominated by betrayal. Jonathan had revealed during Chief Mike Oghiadomhe’s 70th birthday celebration in Benin that he was betrayed while seeking re-election in 2015, describing betrayal as a defining feature of the country’s politics.

Reacting in a post on X, Sani urged young Nigerians with political ambitions to pay attention and learn from Jonathan’s experience. “GEJ just said that Nigerian politics is full of betrayers, liars and traitors. I hope young people aspiring to join politics are listening to him and learning from his experience,” he wrote.

Sani, himself no stranger to the rough terrain of Nigerian politics, noted that Jonathan’s words should serve as a cautionary guide for the next generation of leaders. Meanwhile, speculation continues to grow that Jonathan could stage a comeback in 2027, with some observers touting him as a strong option for the PDP’s presidential ticket.
