Security operatives in Katsina State have arrested the Village Head of Sukutum, in Kankiya Local Government Area, over allegations of working hand-in-hand with armed bandits.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the traditional leader was picked up after intelligence reports linked him to criminal gangs terrorising the area. Sources claim he supplied the bandits with sensitive information about the movement of security forces and the location of vulnerable communities, making it easier for them to strike.
It was also alleged that he regularly visited the bandits’ hideouts to maintain contact and coordinate their activities. Authorities say he is currently in custody, facing interrogation to uncover the full scope of his role and to track down any other collaborators.
