Shock in Sokoto as Long-Term Syrian Resident Dies After Distress Incident

A Syrian national who had lived in Sokoto State for more than four decades has passed away after an incident that prompted an urgent police and medical response on Wednesday night.

The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed that the event occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the Gawon Nama Zaga Road area of the state capital.

According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer received a distress report from one Tukur Registrer following information from a 16-year-old boy, Ahmad Aliyu of Gagi, who said his employer, identified as Abdulrahman Badenjki, appeared to be in a critical situation inside his residence.

The teenager immediately sought help from nearby worshippers at a local mosque after discovering the emergency.

Police operatives arrived at the scene and found the man unconscious. The area was documented and secured for investigation, and the victim was rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, where he was later confirmed dead by a medical professional.

Authorities have deposited the body at the hospital mortuary for further examination to determine the exact cause of death.

A senior police source told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, has visited the residence and taken over the case for a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
