South African Lawyers Target US And UK In Lawsuit Over Alleged Israeli War Crimes

South African attorneys, inspired by an ongoing case at the International Court of Justice, gear up to sue the US and UK for alleged complicity in Israeli war crimes. Attorney Wikus Van Rensburg emphasises the need to hold the US accountable, stating, ‘The United States must now be held accountable for the crimes it committed’

IN a landmark legal development, South Africa, following its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), is set to unleash legal action against the United States and the United Kingdom. Almost 50 South African lawyers, led by prominent attorney Wikus Van Rensburg, are gearing up to file a lawsuit accusing the US and UK governments of complicity in Israeli war crimes in Palestine.

Rensburg, who has been actively petitioning various countries and the ICJ for weeks, asserts that the initiative aims to hold those complicit in the crimes accountable through civilian courts. The South African lawyer has already established contact with legal professionals in the US and UK to collaborate on the legal proceedings.

In an interview with Turkey’s Anadolu news agency, Rensburg emphasised the need to bring the US to account for its alleged crimes, stating, ‘The United States must now be held accountable for the crimes it committed.’ He outlined his plan to prosecute Washington and London for their perceived complicity in Tel Aviv’s war crimes against the people of Gaza.

Rensburg explained the motivation behind the legal action, saying, ‘No one says stop, enough is enough. The US is busy spending more money and more resources to allow Israel to commit the crime.’ He pointed out the urgency of addressing the situation in Palestine and the continuous support provided to Israel by the US.

Speaking about the ongoing ICJ case against Israel, Rensburg revealed, ‘The ICJ case will guide us.’ He believes that the outcome and steps taken by the United Nations in response to the ICJ case will shape their strategy against the US and UK.
