Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, on Monday, said he was deeply shocked and saddened by the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash.
Raisi was, on Sunday, killed in the crash along with the country’s Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian and some other senior Iranian officials.
In a statement, Wickremesinghe expressed sympathy to the bereaved families and the government and people of Iran.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of President Raisi and his entourage,’’ Wickremesinghe said.
