Super Eagles Refuse Marrakech Trip Over Unpaid Bonuses Ahead of Algeria Clash

The Super Eagles players and coaching crew have reportedly refused to travel to Marrakech after outstanding bonuses for their matches at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations remained unpaid.

The development was confirmed by BBC Africa journalist Oluwashina Okeleji, who is currently in Morocco. According to reports, the Nigerian camp has decided to halt all movement and training until the issue is fully resolved.

Nigeria are scheduled to face Algeria in the quarter-final of the AFCON on Saturday evening, but preparations have been thrown into uncertainty due to the financial dispute.

It is understood that bonuses for the four matches played so far at the tournament are yet to be paid. Eric Chelle’s side secured wins against Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda during the group stage, before delivering an emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16.

With the crucial knockout fixture fast approaching, the players and coaches are said to be standing their ground, insisting that they will not travel or resume training until the unpaid bonuses are settled.
