Suspected Bomb Blast Kills Travellers in Zamfara

An unspecified number of travellers have reportedly been killed following a suspected bomb explosion along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Command, Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Saturday, stating that the explosion occurred in the afternoon.

“I can confirm that there was a blast in that area, but the incident just happened. I can’t tell you details yet. I will update you later,” Abubakar said during a telephone interview.

While official details remain sketchy, residents in the area alleged that the explosive device may have been planted by bandits who have continued to unleash violence across parts of the state.

A video clip circulating on social media shows travellers fleeing the scene in panic moments after the explosion, with the atmosphere marked by confusion and fear.

Zamfara State has in recent years witnessed repeated attacks linked to armed banditry, including ambushes, kidnappings and attacks along major rural routes. Security agencies are yet to release further information on casualties or arrests connected to the incident.
