Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of killing his friend following a disagreement over a $1,000 transaction. The incident occurred in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area, on January 21, 2026.

Police spokesperson Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect, identified as Oghenegare, is currently being held at the state command headquarters in Asaba. The victim, identified as Courage, was said to be the suspect’s childhood friend.

According to the police, both men were allegedly involved in internet fraud, and a dispute broke out between them over the transaction. During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly struck the victim on the head, leading to his death.

Edafe lamented the rising number of murder cases in the state, linking them to anger, substance abuse and conflicts that could have been resolved peacefully. In a viral video, the suspect allegedly claimed that his friend had “logged him out” of the transaction process.
