Suspended Pilot Shares Details of Airport Clash with Fuji Star K1 De Ultimate

Suspended ValueJet Airlines pilot, Capt. Oluranti Ogoyi, has given her own account of the heated incident involving Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 5.

Both Ogoyi and her co-pilot, Flight Officer Ivan Oloba, were suspended by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for breaching safety rules, while K1 was barred from flying in Nigeria for six months.

In a written statement obtained by The Will, Ogoyi said boarding for flight VK201 began at 8:10 a.m. The musician arrived about five minutes later carrying a gold flask. Ground staff, following standard safety protocol, asked to inspect the flask’s contents, but K1 allegedly refused — drinking from it instead. Staff suspected it contained alcohol, which is prohibited on Nigerian flights.

“When asked again, he responded, ‘Do you know who I am? You have no right to tell me to open my flask,’” Ogoyi recounted.

According to her, security personnel also tried to intervene, but the situation escalated. She left the cockpit to speak with K1 directly, but claims the singer suddenly poured the contents of the flask on her, security staff, and some passengers nearby.

Airport security then stepped in, and the Head of Security recommended that K1 not be allowed on the flight — a decision Ogoyi said she fully supported for passenger safety.

The disruption caused delays, and Ogoyi said that after the doors were shut, she still saw K1 lingering near the aircraft, blocking movement. She made an announcement to passengers explaining the delay before finally departing for Lagos at about 8:50 a.m.
