Tambuwal Stands His Ground: “No One Can Erase My Legacy”

Former Sokoto State Governor and current Senator for Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has pushed back against what he describes as attempts to silence and intimidate him. Addressing a massive crowd of supporters at his Sokoto residence, Tambuwal said his recent questioning by the EFCC was nothing more than political blackmail aimed at forcing him into the ruling APC.

“What they fail to realize is that I cannot be intimidated, I cannot be blackmailed, and no one can tarnish the records that God has given me,” he declared to loud cheers. He reminded Nigerians of his political journey — from Minority Leader in 2003, to Speaker of the House in 2011, to Sokoto Governor for eight years, and now as Senator — insisting his service has always been about the people.

The Senator dismissed allegations of ₦189 billion against him as baseless, pointing out that even state-level investigations had found nothing. Instead, he accused the ruling APC of using intimidation tactics because of their fear of losing power. “Their policies are anti-people. They have no compassion, they have no human feelings,” Tambuwal said, warning that insecurity and hardship have worsened under their watch.

Looking ahead to 2027, he told his supporters that change is inevitable. “We are determined. We are committed to democratic efforts, and we will join forces with all Nigerians to make sure that, by the grace of God, in 2027 we end this misrule. We will not allow elections to be rigged again. Nigerians will make their voices heard, and with God on our side, victory is certain.”

For many in Sokoto that day, Tambuwal’s words were more than politics — they were a rallying call, a reminder that the battle for Nigeria’s future is far from over.
