Tantita Security Services Dismisses Ondo Chief Security Officer Over Alleged Misconduct
Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has announced the dismissal of its Ondo State Chief Security Officer, Mr. Owoyele Omotuyi Joseph, after an internal investigation reportedly uncovered serious breaches of the company’s operational and ethical standards. The public notice, issued on Friday, December 5, 2025, confirmed that Owoyele is no longer in the firm’s employment.
According to the statement, the decision followed a detailed internal review that produced evidence—including WhatsApp messages, payment receipts, and other documents—linking the former CSO to engagements with individuals involved in illegal oil bunkering. The materials also allegedly showed him negotiating bribes, actions that contradict Tantita’s mandate to secure Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure.
The announcement comes amid separate allegations surrounding the Ondo State Coordinator of the outfit, Idowu Asonja. Community groups and youth leaders in Ikale land earlier accused Asonja of assault, arson, and high-handedness, including claims that he led armed men to burn the home of a traditional high chief. They described his conduct as disrespectful to local authority and destabilising to community peace.
Reports also indicated that the crisis escalated after Asonja allegedly ordered an attack on the residence of High Chief Ayodele Omodogbe, following disagreements over activities in the community. Witnesses claimed he was accompanied by men believed to be soldiers and that the confrontation caused widespread panic. There were further allegations that he insulted the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, Oba Michael Obatuga, by ignoring a peace call from the monarch.
In addition, workers and community members staged a protest on December 3, 2025, demanding a probe into Asonja over alleged salary diversion and abuse of authority. Protesters displayed placards expressing frustration over unpaid wages, some claiming they had not received salaries for two years.
Despite the mounting concerns, Tantita’s announcement did not address the allegations against Asonja. Instead, the organisation focused solely on the internal findings that led to Owoyele’s dismissal. The company emphasised that he no longer represents Tantita in any capacity and warned the public against engaging with him under the assumption that he still works for the firm.
The management reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and accountability, stating that it will take any necessary actions to protect its reputation and ensure operational integrity.
Tantita Security Services, operated by Niger Delta figure Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), plays a key role in the federal government’s efforts to curb oil theft across the region. However, recent allegations of internal misconduct in some states have increased scrutiny of the company’s operations.
Despite the tensions, the Ondo State Operations reiterated its commitment to discipline, ethical conduct, and the protection of Nigeria’s vital oil and gas assets.
