Terrorists Launch Deadly Attacks on Travellers in Kwara and Kogi States

Terrorists have launched another wave of violent attacks on travellers in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving motorists stranded and frightened along the Eruku–Egbe road on Monday.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants ambushed vehicles, forcing travellers to flee into nearby bushes for safety. Videos obtained by SaharaReporters show several vehicles, including long trucks, parked by the roadside as chaos erupted.

An eyewitness confirmed that the bandits were still active in the area as of Monday, warning commuters to avoid the route until security forces restore order.

This attack comes shortly after another violent incident along the Ayere–Kabba road in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, where gunmen opened fire on a commercial bus around 5 p.m. on Sunday, killing one passenger and injuring several others.

Residents have expressed growing concern that the Ayere–Kabba axis has become a hotspot for armed gangs, who now operate freely between Kogi and Kwara States, endangering travellers and crippling movement across the region.
