“This No Be Campaign Time”—Falana Warns Politicians to Face Governance

Femi Falana, respected human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has called out politicians already jumping into 2027 campaign mode, saying “una dey break the law!”

During an appearance on Politics Today on Channels TV, Falana didn’t mince words—he said all these early campaign moves are illegal and simply a way to distract Nigerians from the real issues: governance, development, and accountability.

According to Falana, the Electoral Act doesn’t give room for campaign drama two years before elections. “This one wey dem dey do now no follow for our law,” he said. “Nigerians want good roads, steady light, jobs—no be posters and political rallies upandan.”

He urged INEC to stand firm and caution any politician already doing pre-election activities, even governors. “If you want to change the law to allow early campaigns, go through the right process,” he said. “Until then, everybody must obey the rules.”

Falana also called on the media to rise to their duty—educate the people and hold politicians accountable.
