The Take It Back (TIB) Movement has confirmed that Mr. Onyeka Nwokolo, a young Nigerian abducted and extorted of ₦5.1 million by officers at Alagbon Police Command, has successfully recovered his money.
In a statement signed by its Lagos State Coordinator, Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek, the group said the refund followed its petition and intervention, stressing that the case proves citizens’ vigilance can defeat police abuse and impunity.
The Movement hailed the swift action of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of Alagbon and CP Akinyemi of the X-Squad, noting their professionalism in ensuring the victim’s funds were restored. It also commended its legal adviser, Barr. Bolaji M. Oluwatosin, for physically accompanying the victim and ensuring due process.
While welcoming the refund, TIB insisted that the implicated officers — Commander Kalu, Supol Olamilekan, and others — must not go unpunished. The group warned that failure to prosecute them would deepen public distrust in the police.
TIB maintained that the recovery was not only a personal victory for Nwokolo but a “powerful reminder” that collective resistance against injustice can yield results.
