Tinubu Celebrates Olusegun Osoba at 85

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has congratulated veteran journalist, elder statesman and former Governor of Ogun, Chief Olusegun Osoba, in commemoration of his 85th birthday.

The president, in a statement on Saturday by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, said Osoba served twice as governor of Ogun; first from 1992 to 1993, during the aborted Third Republic, and then from 1999 to 2003.

He said Osoba, who later became Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of Daily Times, set a remarkable standard of excellence in his unflinching professionalism, objectivity, courage and balance, serving as a guiding light for the media across many generations.

“President Tinubu celebrates his long-time friend for his commitment to progressive ideals and passion for Nigeria’s development,” Ngelale said..

The president commended Osoba as he launched his new book, ‘Segun Osoba: My Life in the Public Eye,’ in celebration of this milestone birthday.

Tinubu also commended him for the publication and trusts that his story would inspire future leaders and members of the press to commit to manifesting his core characteristics of integrity, accountability, doggedness and hard work.
