Tinubu Orders New Security Strategies, Donates ₦200m to Nigerian Legion

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday charged the nation’s service chiefs to develop and implement fresh strategies that will deliver measurable results in the ongoing fight against insecurity.

He also stressed the need for greater efficiency across all security and military agencies as they execute their duties.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the closed-door meeting between the President and the service chiefs at the Aso Rock Villa.

Earlier, Tori News reported that President Tinubu had summoned an emergency security meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.
General Oluyede described the meeting as highly engaging, noting that the President issued new directives aimed at achieving stronger outcomes in the battle against insecurity.

He assured citizens that the Armed Forces and other security agencies are working closely to ensure Nigerians enjoy a peaceful festive season.

Also present at the meeting were: Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General W. Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. General Emmanuel Undiandeye; Director-General of the DSS, Adeola Ajayi; and Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu on Tuesday donated ₦200 million to the Nigerian Legion, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting military personnel, injured officers, and families of fallen heroes.

This was announced in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

At the event, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu donated ₦100 million on behalf of the National Assembly, while the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, contributed ₦20 million.

President Tinubu made the remarks during the launch of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem Appeal at the Presidential Villa.
