Tinubu says APC governors remain party leaders as Kefas joins the party

President Bola Tinubu has declared that governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain leaders of the party in their respective states. The statement was made during the official reception of Governor Agbu Kefas in Jalingo, following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

Represented by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, Tinubu announced that Kefas now assumes leadership of the APC in Taraba and pledged support for the governor and his cabinet in driving development. He praised Kefas’ efforts to unite the state and harmonize its diverse communities for the sake of unity.

The president encouraged residents to support the governor and expressed satisfaction with a governor defecting from the North-East geopolitical zone, urging Adamawa and Bauchi to join the party. APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda commended Kefas for his courage, noting that the move would enhance the state’s economy and empower youth and women.

Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Senate President, emphasized that the defection would benefit Taraba in infrastructure, development, and security. Governor Kefas stated that his move was aimed at shaping Taraba’s future—creating jobs, boosting business, and serving the people with discipline and patriotism.
