President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on his Supreme Court victory, which officially affirmed his election as governor following months of legal contest.
In a statement released by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the president described the Supreme Court ruling as a welcome development and urged Governor Okpebholo to see the moment not just as a personal win, but a call to serve all Edo people—regardless of political or ethnic lines.
“President Tinubu encourages Governor Okpebholo to be magnanimous in victory and rally the citizens of Edo across divides towards a singular vision of advancing the state’s development,” the statement read.
Governor Okpebholo was first declared winner of the September 2024 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). With today’s ruling by the apex court putting an end to all legal disputes, President Tinubu expressed hope that the governor would now focus fully on governance and delivering impactful results.
“This is the time to accelerate the delivery of exceptional services and good governance,” Tinubu said, adding that he is confident the governor is already on that path.
The president also extended warm congratulations to the All Progressives Congress (APC) family in Edo State, urging party members to remain united and committed to fulfilling the trust placed in them by the electorate.
With the legal battle behind them, Tinubu emphasized that governance and progress must now take centre stage.
