Barring any last-minute changes, President Bola Tinubu is expected to nominate the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as the new Minister of Defence. This follows the resignation of Badaru Abubakar, who stepped down on Monday citing health concerns.
According to credible sources familiar with internal deliberations, the President has now resolved to bring General Musa into the cabinet—a move said to be influenced by increasing pressure to include a seasoned military figure in the defence portfolio.
DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the former CDS met with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday evening. A correspondent from The Punch confirmed spotting General Musa arriving at the State House at exactly 7:03 p.m., escorted by a senior security officer.
Dressed in a dark-green traditional outfit with elbow-length sleeves, Mr Musa’s appearance at the Villa marks his first public engagement with the President since his retirement on October 24, 2025.
