President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered a firm message to Nigeria’s newly appointed service chiefs, urging them to take decisive action in ending the nation’s long-standing security crisis that has lingered since 2009. Speaking during their decoration ceremony at the State House in Abuja, the President charged the commanders to lead with courage, patriotism, and innovation.
Tinubu emphasized that the new appointments signaled more than a ceremonial change—it marked the beginning of a renewed national effort to restore lasting peace across the country. “Security is an essential element without which everything else becomes meaningless,” he said, stressing that development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and instability.
The President acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigeria’s armed forces, recalling how they had reclaimed territories once held by terrorists and rescued countless citizens from captivity. However, he warned that emerging threats in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South required immediate and strategic attention.
“We must not allow these new threats to fester,” Tinubu declared. “Let us smash the new snakes right in the head. Nigerians expect results, not excuses.”
He urged the service chiefs to adopt advanced technologies, act preemptively, and stay ahead of those who seek to destabilize the nation. Tinubu assured them of his full support, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary resources for national defense.
The President closed with a message of hope and resilience: “May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and keep our armed forces safe.”
