A disturbing incident has unfolded at the Kuje Correctional Center, where an awaiting trial inmate identified as Dung Bulus Pam reportedly died overnight from an undisclosed ailment. The cause of death remains unknown, but prison sources linked his detention to Police Prosecutor Musa Adama, who is also said to have arraigned Omoyele Sowore and 13 #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protesters.
According to insiders, Adama has a reputation for unjustly prosecuting vulnerable Nigerians, many of whom languish in prison for years without trial. “One of them died today,” a source lamented, pointing to systemic neglect and abuse within the justice system.
Meanwhile, Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, remains critically ill inside the same facility. He was reportedly beaten, teargassed, and detained following his arrest during a peaceful protest in Abuja. Sources say his health deteriorated rapidly after Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id refused to sign his bail bond despite granting bail.
Ejimakor, who now wears a neck brace and struggles to sit or stand, is being treated by prison nurses as his condition worsens. The same magistrate reportedly collaborated with police to keep the detainees in custody — a move many activists have described as an outright abuse of power and due process.
Human rights groups have condemned the deteriorating conditions at Kuje, calling for urgent medical intervention and justice for the deceased inmate. The situation underscores growing concerns over prison overcrowding, delayed trials, and police misconduct in Nigeria’s criminal justice system.
